TLDR: Swamp People: Serpent Invasion traded Louisiana gators for Burmese pythons in the Florida Everglades, with Troy Landry leading the hunt. HISTORY lists five seasons and 52 episodes, and season 5 aired January 2 to February 20, 2025. Checked October 27, 2026.
What happens when a bayou hunter heads to the Everglades with snakes on the menu? Swamp People found out in 2020, when Serpent Invasion premiered on March 9, according to Wikipedia.
The spinoff lasted five seasons, and no sixth has been announced.
Five Seasons and 52 Episodes
HISTORY lists 52 episodes. Season 5 opened on January 2, 2025 with an episode called “Jackpot,” in which the hunters return to the Everglades looking for a new generation of pythons.
The season 5 episode list runs through February 20, 2025 and ends with “Do or Die.” Troy and Pickle turn up in the descriptions for episodes 2, 4 and 6.
The Cast Shifted From Season to Season
Wikipedia’s cast list names Troy, Chase Landry, Bruce Mitchell, Zak Catchem and Bill Booth. HISTORY’s season 3 cast page lists Troy, Pickle Wheat, Tes Lee, Bruce Mitchell, Bill Booth and Dusty Crum.
Those lists do not match, so treat each as a snapshot of a different season. Zak’s surname also varies, from Catchem to Cathmen to Bagby.
Three of them have their own articles here, Troy Landry, Pickle and Bruce.
In season 4, episode 2, HISTORY UK says Troy and Tes Lee caught a female python that might have been carrying 40 to 50 eggs. That is the network’s own description, not a measured count.
Why There Are So Many Pythons to Catch
The South Florida Water Management District reported in November 2021 that about 8,818 pythons had been removed through its partnership with the state wildlife commission. The longest measured 18 feet, 9 inches.
That report covers a state program, and it does not say the show’s cast took part. We are not claiming they did.
A Different Kind of Hunt Than Louisiana
Back home, Louisiana’s recreational alligator season runs through a lottery. The state’s program page describes up to 5,000 hunters with two hide tags each.
That program is separate from what the cast does for a living, and we could not confirm the commercial season dates.
Where to Watch It
Check HISTORY’s site and your streaming provider, since licensing changes often. The parent series returned in 2026 with season 17, covered in our cast guide.
