TLDR: Mountain Men: Wild North is the first Canadian version of the History Channel series, with 10 episodes premiering October 7 in the U.S. and October 8 in Canada, 2026. It follows eight people in six cast entries across Alberta, Ontario, the Yukon, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Checked October 23, 2026.
Mountain Men has crossed the border into Canada for the first time. Wild North follows trappers, a dog musher and off-grid homesteaders through the Canadian winter.
Here is who is in the cast, where each person lives and how the series fits with the original. For the show that started it all, see our guide to the Mountain Men cast.
What Wild North Is and When It Airs
According to the Corus press release, Wild North is the first Canadian installment of the Mountain Men franchise. It has 10 episodes of about an hour and was produced by Blue Ant Studios with A+E Global Media.
Realscreen reports that it premieres October 8 on History Channel Canada, with the U.S. premiere a day earlier on October 7. U.S. listings place it as season 15 of Mountain Men, with episode titles that begin “Wild North.”
The press material says both seven and eight people, and the cast list names eight.
Rob Bauer in the Alberta Rockies
Rob Bauer lives alone in the forested foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, according to his HISTORY bio. He runs a trapline covering 98 square miles.
He built every structure himself, from the log cabin to the smokehouse, with timber he cut and milled. He learned trapping as a boy with his uncles, and his grandmother taught him to sew fur by hand.
Randy Barrass on Family Land
Randy Barrass, who is in his 60s, lives alone in a 1,000 square foot cabin he built by hand near Whitecourt Mountain, Alberta. His bio says his family has worked the land for more than a century.
He runs wolf and coyote traplines to protect his brother’s cattle ranch. He has five grandchildren and wants to pass on what he knows.
Kielyn and Dave Marrone in the LaCloche Mountains
The Marrones live off-grid in the LaCloche Mountains of Ontario, where Corus says they have spent 15 years building a self-sufficient life. They run a wilderness business called Lure of the North, per My Algoma Manitoulin Now.
Kielyn took part in season 7 of Alone and lasted 80 days in the Arctic. Her full story is in our guide to Kielyn and Dave Marrone.
Connor McMahon and His Sled Dogs
Connor McMahon grew up in Ontario and now lives in the Boundary Ranges of the Yukon. He keeps more than 50 sled dogs with his partner, Jen, according to HISTORY.
He finished 8th in the 2025 Yukon Quest 450 and 20th in the 2025 Iditarod. His story gets its own page in our guide to Connor McMahon, and we compare him with Jessie Holmes in reality TV stars on the Iditarod.
Broc Simoneau and the Bear Guides
Broc Simoneau lives off-grid in the Wildcat Hills of northeastern Saskatchewan. He has hunted, trapped and guided since he was 14.
He runs a bear-guiding operation with his father, Greg, who is in his 70s and has stepped back from the heavy work. In the second episode he hauls barrels of honey up into the trees to lure bears out.
Aron and Jen Toland at Eliguk Lake
The Tolands turned an abandoned fishing lodge in British Columbia into an off-grid homestead. Outdoor Canada reported that they bought Eliguk Lake Lodge in March 2016.
They grow about 90 percent of their own food, per HISTORY. Their story, including the wildfire, is in our guide to Aron and Jen Toland.
The First Episodes
The season opens October 7 with “The Northern Frontier,” followed by “A Fine Line,” “On the Edge,” “To the Bone” and “Racing the Thaw,” according to Rotten Tomatoes. That listing shows only five episodes, so more titles may follow.
In “A Fine Line,” the Marrones use every part of a beaver harvest and Connor takes a second-string dog team into the backcountry.
How Wild North Fits With the Original Mountain Men
The original series follows men such as Tom Oar, Eustace Conway and Morgan Beasley through the American wilderness. Wild North brings new people to the franchise in a colder country.
