TLDR: Kielyn Marrone lasted 80 days on Alone season 7 and now appears with her husband, Dave, in Mountain Men: Wild North. They run Lure of the North, a winter wilderness business near Espanola, Ontario. Checked October 23, 2026.
The Marrones are the Ontario entry in the Wild North cast. Kielyn is already known to survival fans from Alone.
Here is how the couple live, how she ended up in the Arctic and what the new series shows.
Two Guides in the LaCloche Mountains
They live off-grid in the LaCloche Mountains near Espanola, Ontario, where Corus says they have spent 15 years building a self-sufficient life. Global News reported in 2020 that their remote property can be reached only by boat or snowmobile.
They run Lure of the North, which My Algoma Manitoulin Now says offers excursions, training in traditional skills and instruction in off-grid living.
Lure of the North and Winter Travel
Global News describes the company as a winter wilderness expedition business that specializes in traditional winter travel. Trips can last up to three weeks in the boreal forest.
The Cinemaholic says the business has operated since fall 2011 and that Kielyn is a guide, a traditional skills instructor and a graduate of the Outdoor Adventure Leadership program at Laurentian University.
How Kielyn Got Onto Alone
Friends of the couple had won season 4 of Alone. Dave applied after watching the show and did not hear back.
Later, casting staff were looking for winter specialists and asked whether Dave’s wife would apply too. She said yes and was selected for the final 20, per Global News.
Eighty Days in the Arctic
Season 7 began on the shores of Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories on September 18. Kielyn was the only Canadian in the cast, and her cold and wind experience near James Bay helped her prepare.
She tried to gain weight before the show and made her own clothing for the Arctic. Global News reports that being away from her family was among the hardest parts.
She lasted 80 days. Sudbury.com reports that she finished as second runner-up behind Roland Welker, who lasted 101 days.
Wikipedia says she was 33 and tapped out because of starvation, and Callie Russell lasted 89 days before a medical evacuation for frostbite. The Cinemaholic reports that she lost 47 pounds and recovered.
Dave Marrone
Little has been published about Dave’s background. He runs Lure of the North with Kielyn, and he applied for Alone before she did.
Life After Alone
The couple share their guiding and homesteading life on a YouTube channel for the company. In 2021 they announced two survivalist skills courses for the summer, though that report is dated.
Filming Wild North
The couple spent a year filming the series, according to the local report. In “A Fine Line,” they put every part of a beaver harvest to use.
