TLDR: Connor McMahon is a musher from Carcross, Yukon, who runs Feral Racing Dog Sled Tours and appears in Mountain Men: Wild North. He scratched at Galena in his 2024 Iditarod rookie run and finished 20th in 2025. Checked October 23, 2026.
Of the people in the Wild North cast, Connor McMahon has the most race results on record. He has run the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod with a team he trains himself.
Here is where he comes from, how his kennel grew and how his races went.
A Boyhood in Ontario and a Malamute Named Chumie
McMahon grew up in southern Ontario and met working dogs at 15 while managing a kennel of security dogs, according to Iditarod rookie profiles. He says watching them taught him to see the world through their eyes.
His first sled dog was a Malamute named Chumie, and he built his first sled from skis and scrap wood. His 2026 Iditarod profile spells the dog’s name Chummie.
Feral Racing in Carcross
He lives in Carcross, Yukon, where he runs Feral Racing Dog Sled Tours from an off-grid cabin, per his 2026 Iditarod profile. He started the kennel the year after guiding fishing trips in the Northwest Territories.
Sources disagree on the size of the kennel. Iditarod profiles have said 22 dogs, more than 20 and about 40, while HISTORY says more than 50, which he trains with his partner, Jen.
Mentor and Racing Record
McMahon handled dogs for Canadian musher Aaron Peck, whom he credits as a mentor. He has raced the Yukon Quest, the Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Run, the Canadian Challenge and the Caledonia Classic.
HISTORY lists him 8th in the 2025 Yukon Quest 450, while an Iditarod rookie profile says he placed 6th in that race, so the year or the result may differ between the two.
The 2024 Iditarod and the Scratch at Galena
He ran the Iditarod as a rookie in 2024, reached Galena on the Yukon River and scratched. The Iditarod’s 2025 race report refers back to that run.
Twentieth Place in 2025
In 2025 he finished 20th in 13 days, 4 hours and 7 minutes with 13 dogs. His leader, an 8-year-old named Manko, had run every one of his races.
McMahon also has a 2026 musher profile on the Iditarod site, which says he entered to keep running long distances with his dogs and to represent Canada. We did not find his 2026 finish.
On Mountain Men Wild North
In the second episode, “A Fine Line,” Connor takes his second-string team into the backcountry where one error could end the run. He lives in the Boundary Ranges of the Yukon, per HISTORY.
His racing links him to another reality star, Jessie Holmes, and we compare the two in reality TV stars on the Iditarod. For the rest of the cast, see the Wild North guide.
