Three of the original seven characters on Port Protection Alaska are men who live by boat, saw and rod. Here is what we know about each.

Curly Leach, the Lumberjack

NatGeo’s bio, as summarized by Reality Blurred, says Curly barters firewood, hunts and traps and prefers to work alone. The Cinemaholic reports that he is from Rochester, Washington, and does not believe in money.

TheTVDB lists him in “The Widow Maker,” “Legends in the Woods,” “Tiny Terrors,” “Sink House” and “A Run at the Kings,” and in many season 8 episodes.

A September 2026 article says he still lives in Port Protection and appeared in an August 2026 Alaska-Vibes video. It reports that he lost over 100 pounds by April 2026 on doctors’ orders ahead of planned hip surgery, which we could not confirm elsewhere.

It also says he appears with his dog, Junior, and that rumors of a romance with Mary Miller are false because they were only friends.

In “The Widow Maker” he helps a neighbor named Jiggy with a rotten tree, and in the 2017 special “Ocean’s Bounty” he aims for his first king salmon.

In season 7’s “Tree of Death,” he helps remove danger trees above Jiggy’s house, and a broken safety cable turns deadly.

David Squibb, the Minimalist

NatGeo’s bio says Squibb has lived in Port Protection for 17 years, builds his own necessities and values experience over wealth. The Cinemaholic says he is from Edmonds, Washington.

As of December 2023 he was reported to live in Point Baker with his partner, Kristina Kris Jackson, per Distractify. Fan claims about whether they are married or whether Kris left are unconfirmed.

TheTVDB lists him in “The Perfect Bear,” “A Run at the Kings” and “Granpa’s Pot” in season 6, and in several season 8 episodes.

In season 6’s “The Perfect Bear,” Squibb and Troy repair a sinking float that could cause an oil spill. In “Granpa’s Pot” he and Matt Carlson make major upgrades, and in “A Run at the Kings” he helps Curly tear out dangerous decking.

Stuart Andrews, the Captain

NatGeo’s bio says Stuart is a fisherman with an entrepreneurial streak who hires out his boat and makes supply runs for the community. Republic World names the boat the Donna Mae and says he often fishes with Squibb.

Little current information is public about him, and we have not found a reliable update on where he lives now.
