What Happened to Martin on the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries?

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: A Very Foul Play aired on August 18, 2019, and as usual, it was a real hit.

As Aurora (Candice Cameron Bure) and her friends from the Real Murders Club met up to do a fun murder mystery production, they had no idea what was waiting for them.

There on the stage, a real murder actually takes place, right before their eyes.

Lights go off, and when they come back, someone is dead. Philip (Aurora’s nephew) is seen holding a bloody knife.

The investigation as to who really committed the crime launches. Trust Aurora Teagarden and her team to leave no stones turned to uncover the murder.

The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries ‘ fame is now worldwide.

Based on the series of novels by Charlaine Harris, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries started airing adaptations as a film series named “The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries,” as part of Hallmark Channel’s “Mystery Wheel” umbrella.

Their latest movie: A very Foul Play is the 12th flick in the series, with the others registering big-time successes over the years. We have watched the main star –Aurora grow in all aspects of her life.

Her investigative abilities get better with each new release. The people that come her way have impacted her in one way or the other.

Among her list of romantic relationships was the one with the ex-CIA agent, Martin Bartell (played by Yannick Bisson). Martin made his debut to the series in Three Bedrooms: One Corpse when he moved to town.

He later fell in love with Aurora Teagarden after working with her for a while.

The chemistry between the two actors is so intense that fans are sure they will marry and live happily ever after.

However, the worst happens when Martin gets a call in the Last Scene Alive that his friends were in trouble and needed him. Just like that, he leaves town and ghosts his girlfriend.

Pretty much, the relationship takes a nosedive from thereon. Martin doesn’t return to the show, and Aurora moves on to her next relationship with Nick Miller (played by Niall Matter). But what really happened to Martin?

Other Roles

Yannick Bisson might have been one of the main casts in the Teagarden Mysteries, but he’s better known for his role in the detective series Murdoch Mysteries.

The Secret Diaries of Detective Murdoch

Apart from having a lead role in all ten seasons of the show, Yannick has also had the opportunity to direct five episodes. Clearly, the handsome actor is more invested in Murdoch Mysteries.

Splitting his time between both shows would have undoubtedly drained him to the core. As Detective William Murdoch, Yannick gives his all to his fans.

Although he has not been upfront about it, there’s a high chance that the talented star left The Teargarden Mysteries for Murdoch Mysteries. Granted, Yannick did both shows concurrently at once, but that might have been quite the task for him.

Part of the Plot

In case you don’t know, the Teagarden Mysteries is based on novels written by Charlaine Harris. According to the books, Aurora is a professional librarian at a local library and is an active member of the Real Murders Club, which happens to be a group of crime enthusiasts.

They meet every month to investigate crimes committed in their town of Georgia. From the book series, Aurora does marry Martin, but he dies. That’s when her relationship with Robin, the mystery writer, takes off.

When Yannick’s character didn’t come back, fans naturally assumed that the producers were only trying to follow the script.

Aurora Teagarden’s next relationship in the movie is with Nick Miller (Niall Matter), who has nothing to do with investigating crimes like her last boyfriend, Martin.

Although the chemistry between Aurora and Nick isn’t as intense as that with Martin, fans warmed up to the idea of the two together.

Despite not being in law enforcement (he’s a psychology professor), Nick does help Aurora solve some of the cases the best way he can. He doesn’t keep asking her to quit like many other people in her life do. Plus, he really is committed to her.

What happened to Martin on Aurora Teagarden?

Yannick Bisson, just like Candice Cameron Bure, has been on TV since he was a young boy. He has more than 60 credits to his name.

Besides filming Murdoch Mysteries and the Teagarden Mysteries, Yannick has also had lead roles in Sue Thomas: FB Eye, A Year by the Sea, The Listener, The Secrets of Comfort House, Flashpoint, Beauty and the Beast, among other hit movies. His last role on TV was 2019’s A Perfect Plan.

Bisson is also husband to the author, actress, and producer Chantal Craig with whom he has three daughters (Brianna, Mikaela, and Dominique).

He recently spoke to Globemail, claiming that he’s taking time off during the COVID-19 pandemic to do things that matter most in life (working out, spending time with family, and staying connected on his social media profiles).

There’s a high likelihood that Martin left The Teagarden Mysteries to focus more on his role as Detective William Murdoch in the Murdoch Mysteries.

Murdoch Mysteries Season 2

He might have also been let go as part of the script. No one knows for sure.

At least we are sure that the lovely actor is still on TV. If you want to catch up with him, stay tuned to Murdoch Mysteries.
